Getting to grips with it is thankfully considerably easier this time around, thanks to a helpful nested tooltip system and plenty of guidance. At first glance it might seem a bit too familiar, but an even greater focus on roleplaying and simulating the lifestyles of medieval nobles, along with a big bag of new and reconsidered features, makes it well worth jumping ship to the latest iteration.ĬK3 is a ceaseless storyteller supported by countless complex systems that demand to be mucked around with and tweaked. It's a huge grand strategy RPG, more polished and cohesive than the venerable CK2, and quite a bit easier on the eyes, too. I'd even try making it myself since it is possible.Release date: 2020 | Developer: Paradox | SteamĬrusader Kings 3, the best strategy game of 2020, has usurped its predecessor's spot on the list, unsurprisingly. Maybe if ubisoft decided they want to revive world in conflict there will be a future, but those companies focuses on lowest denominator markets and right now strategy is a mobile hit only. But they have their own idea of what it should be and unless they let you mod the game it's what they make it to be. ![]() Yeah like i said earier, big companies no longer cares and the only ones willing to work on sequels are small devs. Games like it which was released after WiC and WG was TC Endwars but it flopped multiplayer as the ones in a team and that started right at the beginning got so powerfull that nobody could defeat their experienced units and they tooked care nobody could reach that level by killing you while trying to evac.īut I miss the times of WiC tho it was kinda hard to maintain Top 10 WR which tooked all my time and felt like a 2nd job just so you could have golden camo on your units. But ask any Wargame veteran they all say ALB was the best. Well Wargame ist still the best imo and then Airland Battle even thos it is not as populated as Red dragon. Should there be a new game like wargame or world in conflict? There's already enough games about ancient warfare and ww2, although a ww2 rts is very similar to a modern one (such as air support/supply, artillery, mechanised units, ballistic missiles). Even arma 3 to some extent managed to create a rts like experience with zeus and what it offers is probably more satisfying than alot of rts games out now. I'm not a big fan of base building so games that just throw you the action really appeals to me. Originally posted by fishstick:It seems the last good rts of this kind (for me anyway) is world in conflict with wargame being a close imitator. If that was improved then the game would be almost on par with WiC (it still lacked in terms of support)īut it looks like that kind of game isn't marketable to the big companies, and small companies can't seem to dish out something like it? The only thing wargame did worse is the infantry mechanics which feel extremely clunky and cheap. World in conflict and wargame did well in the sense everything is there, you can call in support, land and air units are well depicted and the games just feels whole. But the combat is a drag unless you're making a cinematic. Arma is pretty instantaneous if you are familar with zeus modules and scripts. Well a sim can be fast or slow based on how you set up the game. is great, the sim nature of it can sometimes make it feel like nothing much is happening for long periods at a time (waiting for airstrikes, artillery etc.), as compared to more action focussed games designed for entertainment where you have a steady stream of action going on most of the time.Īnd yes Wargame is the most recent one of that kind I can think of too.
